The remorseful Elena forgives Shuichi. Claire tries to kill her, but Elena is spared by gunfire. Elena reveals she was sick of their parents being terrible people and killed them for her sake. She gives Claire a second coin before leaving. Claire decides to kill herself, only to learn about Shuichi. She rushes to the vending machine and meets the young man, who restores Shuichi's body in exchange for a coin. The man reveals he is a shape shifting alien and explains hundreds of his fellow aliens were returning to their home planet as streams of living data inside the coins, but they were scattered when their ship crashed, and he cannot repair the ship alone. He recruits human Gatherers to find the coins...
